There is nothing better than starting your day with a nice American breakfast in Riyadh. I am talking about pancakes that are as high as a building and waffles that are drizzled with syrup.
Or maybe?
Some beacon that is sizzling on the sides with a steaming hot cup of coffee.
COUNT ME IN!
Riyadh might not pop up in your head when I mention American restaurants but in my experience Riyadh will never disappoint when it comes to food be it breakfast or dinner.
If you want to get some energy to conquer your to do list or just want to enjoy a nice cheat day these American breakfast places wont disappoint.
The restaurants we will talk about are:
These restaurants will have you saying, “Good morning, indeed! Let’s begin now, shall we?
1. 56th Avenue Diner
This restaurant is more like an American café that hopped on a plane and landed straight in Riyadh. Well, it’s not totally American.
YOU WILL GET THAT HINT OF RIYADH TO MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME!
Now let’s talk about the breakfast menu because I am already getting hungry. The menu here offers big satisfying portions so you leave the place completely full and satisfied.
My personal favorite for breakfast here are their golden waffles but if you don’t like it sweet they have tons of other options to choose from.
Their omelets are loaded with all the good stuff and if you like meats then make sure to try their delicious and tender halal sausages.
AND YEAH!
Don’t think about skipping the pancakes. After trying these pancakes I am questioning why I was eating cereals for the past three years in Riyadh.
To end the breakfast with some energy try their Turkish coffee and you will feel like you never wanted to take a nap.
The Vibe
The restaurant has more of a laid back vibe that is perfect for a relaxing morning coffee or a nice breakfast meeting to start your day.
The brown and red ambiance gives this place a nice upscale look without being too much in the face. If you like a bit of privacy then go for the polished booths they are open but a bit private.
DON’T FORGET!
The outdoor seating especially on those cloudy days is ideal for a few Instagram posts and a quick snap to make you go viral.
You get those nice retro style chairs with plants around you to keep things fresh.
Location:
You’ll find 56th Avenue Diner on Olaya Street, in the Hyatt Regency Riyadh Olaya. Easy to spot, even easier to love.
2. IHOP Riyadh
This place doesn’t need any introduction (or maybe it does). The restaurant started back in 1958 in Los Angeles and has over 1,600 branches across the globe.
The place is like a hero of breakfast restaurants and has been flipping pancakes since forever. The restaurant serves delicious breakfast in Riyadh and will have you planning your next visit before you are done with the first one.
Ok let’s talk about food now. The place is famous for its fluffy, sweet and golden pancakes that are topped with enough syrup to have your forks and mouth covered in. The syrup is made with their traditional and ancient recipe that has been used for ages.
BUT
That’s not all. If you don’t have a sweet tooth they have plenty of other options to entertain you. Omelettes stuffed with cheese and veggies, crispy hash browns, and French toast.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU ASK FOR?
I personally really love their omelettes and French toast and I am not a pancake guy but the pancakes are crowd favorite so make sure to try them at least once.
What Does It Look Like?
The place looks playful and fun from the inside. You have wooden chairs paired twinning with the tables and two story seating area.
ENOUGH ROOM FOR YOU AND YOUR CREW.
You also have a live barista counter where coffee is made before your eyes. The upper portion is more darker in my opinion and could use a few windows.
It’s the kind of place where the taste of food does all the talking.
Where To Find IOHP
IHOP has branches across Riyadh I visited their branch located at Robeen Plaza Northern Ring Road, Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
3. The Breakfast Club
The name says it all. The restaurant is famous for serving delicious American breakfast and they know exactly how to give a nice start to your day.
The unique combination of blue, grey and white décor pulls you in and feeds your soul and appetite. If you are looking for a calm place with American breakfast then this one is my pick for you.
I walked in groggy and left feeling like I could take on the world, fueled by eggs, bacon, and maybe a little too much maple syrup.
This is the kind of place where I go to relax and plan the rest of my day.
The Breakfast
Well, they have a lot of options for breakfast to match different tastes. If you want to keep things classic then I would recommend going for the American breakfast which includes:
- Eggs (your style)
- beef bacon
- sausages
- hash browns
If you like something sweet for breakfast then go for my favorite Bacon French Toast. With waffle-style French toast stuffed with beef bacon and topped with icing sugar and maple syrup. I mean, who needs dessert when breakfast can do this?
They also offer Indian breakfast and other items like Balaleet which includes affron-infused vermicelli and fried eggs.
Where Is It?
This American breakfast restaurant is located at Northern Ring Rd, Al Ghadir, Riyadh.
4. Brekkie
This is my personal favorite spot for breakfast in Riyadh. This is the kind of restaurant where mornings feel like they are off to a good start no matter how you are feeling.
The interior design is bright and lively making you feel hyped the moment you walk in. Those white walls, light wood, and a laid-back charm makes you want to grab a seat and stay a while.
Every time I visit Brekkie, it feels like hitting a pause in life’s chaos.
What’s For Breakfast?
The choices here are healthy and endless. I started my breakfast with the Farmer’s Breakfast, and that was probably the best decision I made.
The classic hash browns (American style) were golden from the outside and the eggs were fried at the perfect temperature (but not in that “too oily” way), and the date syrup on the sourdough? Genius.
If you are out with a group then go for their Sharing Box. It includes six sandwiches each with a different flavor. We tried it on a brunch outing with friends, and everyone had a favorite.
Mine was the Rumaan Feta Toast, hands down.
Brekkie Location:
You can find Brekkie at Abi Bakr As Siddiq Branch Rd, Al Mursilat, Riyadh.
5. Mias
Last but not the least is my latest go to spot for American breakfast and its Mias. The morning light coming through those huge glass windows really gives this place a nice uplifting mood.
The interior design of the restaurant is kept simple and minimalist but in a “less is more” way.
Oh!
The outdoors is going to be on your must visit list, especially in the mornings. The place has wooden decking, greenery, and those big umbrellas make it the perfect spot to chill (and maybe snap a pic or two).
And The American Breakfast?
Now, let’s talk about what you came here for. On my first visit, I tried their Royal Benedict. It includes toasted brioche, avocado, smoked salmon, and a poached egg smothered in hollandaise.
It’s that good!
For those mushroom lovers I will recommend the Whipped Truffle. It includes some nicely scrambled eggs with mushrooms on a soft toast. Its more like a grab and go food but trust me you will love it.
Another favorite for me was the Crispy Sumac Potatoes. They are crunchy with a slight taste of tanginess. And the Granola (with Greek yogurt and honey-toasted oats) is perfect if you’re keeping it light.
How To Find Mias
Mias is located at Northern Ring Rd, Almasiaf, Riyadh.
