Where to Find the Best Falafel in Riyadh

Finding good Falafel in Riyadh sounds easy until you really start searching for it. Most of the restaurants in Riyadh claim that their Falafel is the best.

But

Let’s be honest that’s not true. Not everyone is able to make those golden and crispy balls in the best way.

It’s easy to end up with a dry, sad little falafel that crumbles like your willpower on a diet. I have you covered don’t worry!

I have tried over 30 Falafel spots in Riyadh to pick out the ones that truly know what they are doing.

NOT IT’S NO MAMA NOURA!

I was amazed that some of these spots even existed because I never heard of them.

BUT

You should hear about them before going out to pick up your breakfast the next time.

So, Let’s get started and explore these Falafel restaurants.

1.   Operation Falafel

You might have already heard about this restaurant. With over six different branches in Riyadh, this place for sure is a big deal.

I tried their branch in Al Olaya, and the vibe here is definitely unmatched compared to the other branches.

The interior design is quite minimalist with a combination of slight black, grey, and white color scheme. Those unfinished floors will get your attention instantly but they don’t look bad.

Falafel Options

They have a whole section dedicated to falafel on their menu. from the classic, no-frills falafel to stuffed versions loaded with onions, pine nuts, and a fiery shatta sauce that’s not for the faint-hearted.

My favorites were:

  • Classic Falafel: You just can’t beat the taste of classics. The outside had a perfect crunch and the inside was soft, hot, and had that smell of fresh herbs. I would recommend eating them hot because once they cool down they won’t taste the same.
  • Falafel Pita: It’s a Falafel I can confirm that but not in your ordinary style. It comes with hummus, pickles, mint leaves, and just the right amount of tahini sauce. It’s a great option if you want something filling but not too heavy.
  • Stuffed Falafel: It’s a Falafel but stuffed with more than just some peas. The filling includes onions, pine nuts, and spicy shatta. The texture felt a little too dense compared to the classic falafel. Still, if you like a spicy kick, this is a solid choice.

2.    Abu Jbara

If you don’t care about flashy décor or upbeat music then Abu Jbara in As Sulimaniyah might just be the perfect spot for you.

Don’t be fooled by their basic chairs, tables, and zero distractions setup because their Falafel is one of the best in Riyadh.

This spot only focuses on one thing and that’s the food.

AND

Let’s be honest sometimes that is all you need to fix your mood.

Menu Options

Now their Falafel menu has got some interesting options. If you like classics or something new you will get it all here. My favorites on their menu are:

  • Box Flavel Abu Jbara Signature: This one comes with a free Arabic bread and I totally loved it. It wasn’t too oily and the spices were properly balanced.
  • Box 6 Halves: If the options sound too confusing and you want to try everything then this box is for you. It comes with six halves of their falafel sandwich and you will love the variety. By the third half, it started feeling a bit repetitive, so maybe don’t tackle this solo unless you’re a true falafel fanatic.
  • Classic Falafel Box: You know what they say? When in doubt go for the classics and you will never leave disappointed. It’s a crispy, well-seasoned falafel that tastes like it’s made fresh.

3.    Al Naqaa – The Budget-Friendly Falafel Spot

If you are looking for Falafel in Riyadh without draining your wallet then Al Naqaa on Abdullah Al Hamathani St is your next stop.

This is probably one of the cheapest quality restaurants in Riyadh.

This grab-and-go spot doesn’t bother with frills—no fancy decor, no seating, just quick service, and unbelievably low prices that make you do a double-take. Seriously, where else can you get falafel for one riyal?

Falafel Menu:

The menu here is relatively simple and includes falafel, falafel, and more falafel.

Yup, you heard that right. My favorites from this restaurant are:

  • 5 Pieces of Regular Falafel: well, you get 5 crispy Falafel for the price of a water bottle. What else can you ask for? They’re smaller than your average falafel, but for this price, you can afford to grab a handful.
  • 2 Pieces of Stuffed Falafel: These are like ordinary Falafel but stuffed with onions and extra spices to make the taste even better.
  • Falafel Sandwich Regular: Yes, please! Count me in for this one. Fresh falafel tucked inside soft Arabic bread with crunchy veggies and a generous drizzle of tahini sauce.

4.    Falafel Themar

With over 10 branches across Riyadh, this place has caught my attention in the last few weeks. The open kitchens keep you busy while you wait for your food and the basic plastic chairs and tables get the job done without being fancy.

It’s all about no distractions, just you and your falafel.

Unique Falafel In Riyadh

Well, unlike other falafel restaurants in Riyadh, this one has some unique offerings. You will get both quality and quantity here. My favorites are:

  • Falafel Pie: Well, this one is like a mashup of Falafel and Pizza. The crust was crispy, and the falafel filling had a nice blend of spices. It’s a bit carb-heavy but surprisingly satisfying.
  • Falafizza: Yup! You heard that right. Falafel + pizza = falafizza. It’s basically a veggie pizza topped with falafel, and while it might sound odd, the flavors actually worked well together.
  • Falafel Plate: It’s got a great mix of flavors and textures—crispy, creamy, and tangy all at once. The portion is perfect for sharing, but honestly, it’s easy to devour solo.

5.    Falafel Arafa

Located in the calm residential area of Al Malaz, Falafel Arafa offers a no-fuss experience with big windows that give you a peek into the quiet neighborhood.

The ambiance?

Basic, but it’s got a certain charm think of it as the kind of place where you can enjoy your falafel in peace without distractions.

What About Falafel?

Their menu is packed with options, from the classic falafel sandwich to creative pies stuffed with all kinds of goodness. Here’s what stood out:

  • Falafel Pie: This one got my attention instantly. It includes Freshly baked dough stuffed with falafel, melted cheese, a boiled egg, and crispy potato. It’s an unexpected combo, but somehow it works.
  • Falafel Sandwich: You get a choice between saj or Arabic bread, and I went for saj. It’s thin, slightly chewy, and lets the filling shine.
  • Arafah Sandwich: Well, it’s a Falafel sandwich but taken up a notch ahead with the addition of some crispy fries. The fries add a nice crunch, and the balance of tahini, parsley, and tomatoes keeps things fresh.
